On Tuesday October 26, students grades 9-11 at Ringgold High School took their PSAT tests.
The school requires this test to be taken by all underclassmen because it can open up opportunities for scholarships. But after taking the tests mandated by the school, many students are left wondering “What’s next?”
Although a large percent of colleges and universities have become test-optional, good scores can still be helpful in the admissions process. The two most common tests for highschool students are the SAT and ACT.
According to the College Board website, the SATs are given 7 times a year: March, May, June, August, October, November, and December. To register, an account can be created with the College Board and then registration can be done through the website.
The ACTs are also given 7 times a year, but in the months: February, April, June, July, September, October, and December. The registration for this test can be done through making an account at my.act.org and following the steps it outlines.
Once registered, practise material can be found on Khan Academy, Quizlet, and the College Board website. Physical practice books can also be purchased online or checked out of local libraries.
