On Saturday October 2, Ringgold marching band won the CalU homecoming parade competition for their third year in a row.
The band competed against other high schools in the area, winning with a score of 88. Their score was 8 points above the second place winners. Although many band students felt the season started out rough, winning their only competitive parade changed many minds.
Band members Kristin Kupecz and Alyssa Schepis agreed that, “We [the band] had a rough start, but we pulled through somehow. I’m proud of my section and wish them the best of luck at making it 4 years in a row.”
This victory comes under the direction of Dawn Mason and Drum Major Reagan Allen. When asked about the parade Ms. Mason said, “It was pretty fabulous,” and her band students agreed.
The Ram Band’s next parade appearances will be in Donora, Monongahela, and Finleyville for their halloween parades. You could also see them on Friday nights as they perform their “Guardians of the Galaxy” halftime show.
